Your Yesterday Is Over
Yesterday is over.
Yep, I said it. I said it boldly.
I had an epiphany today. I was in the middle of a task and while working away to successfully complete the task, I realized that I was trying to replicate the same success that I once had while doing this same task but in a very different context.
The environment is different.
The people this affects are different.
The rules are different.
Yet, I was trying to do this one task the same way -- expecting the same results.
I was trying to redo yesterday.
But today is different.
It holds new promises. It holds new possibilities.
It has new challenges. The temperature is different.
Winds have shifted.
My context has changed.
So why I am I trying to repeat yesterday?

Yes, we like to fall back on the success of yesterday because it's proven, we've been through it. We've seen the results. And if we are honest with ourselves, to trust today and the future is scary. It's hard. It's hard because we don't know how it will turn out. We don't know what the success rate will be. We don't know the return on investment.
But isn't that a part of this awfully big adventure?
