No White Flags - My Ice Bucket Challenge
The craze has spread like wildfire. A call to raise awareness of ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, has gone viral. It's simple really. Take a video of yourself pouring freezing cold ice-water on your body, much like what football players would do to coaches after a great game, post it on social media and challenge three of your friends to do the same within 24 hours. The catch is to also donate to the cause.
It's been really interesting to watch the videos of people challenging each other. At first it looked like a great way to get information out about the disease and raise money and then it seemed that it became the NEW "thing to do". If you haven't been tagged, you're not popular. If you have, you do it to get the opportunity to call out your friends and get likes! Crazy. Some folks should read my friend's Grant Collins blog on Social Media that he posted last week!
I'd been called to participate by one of my buddies and before I did it, I thought I would share a video from one of my all time favorite Saints to share what this challenge is all about.
So with someone brave like Steve Gleason doing it, there was no way that I could pass up the challenge. So here is the video of my Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness and money for the Team Gleason ALS Foundation.
I also donated $25 to Team Gleason! I'm challenging my buddies Kyle Ashcraft, Chris Goss, and Jordan Hester to take the challenge!
I love how Social Media brings us all together to make our world better.
